Overview of the American Health Care Act

This downloadable presentation provides a summary of the American Health Care Act (AHCA) as it was passed by the U.S. House of Representatives on May 4, 2017. The bill passed 217 to 213, and moved to the U.S. Senate for consideration. It’s anticipated that the Senate will make substantial changes to the legislation before it votes on the revised bill. 

The key issues addressed by the House bill include:

  • Health care insurance coverage incentives
  • Market reforms (including provisions for state-defined minimum health benefits starting in 2018)
  • Stability funding for health insurance markets
  • Medicaid Expansion
