President’s Welcome
Dear South Texas HFMA Chapter Members,
I am honored and grateful for this opportunity to serve the South Texas HFMA chapter in the upcoming year. I am excited to continue the initiatives that began with those that served before me.
Congratulations to Thomas Camp on a successful 2023/2024 year that included record attendance at our Annual Symposium in San Antonio. In keeping with our chapter success goals related to broader engagement and inclusivity, we hosted our 2nd annual Women in Leadership conference at Lakeway Resort near Austin. Our outreach included both HFMA members as well as non-members where women leaders from a variety of industries shared messages of encouragement and empowerment. Each of these events include a give-back campaign to a charity with last year’s donations benefiting The Maui Relief Fund for the Hawaii HFMA chapter and HeartGift in Austin.
As we move into this next year, Connection and Service will be our chapter’s focus. As one of three Texas chapters, we have a unique opportunity to not only serve our chapter region, but also connect with our other Texas chapters and increase our support and impact across our state. Connection within our South Texas HFMA membership community has been a defining attribute of our chapter since I attended my first South Texas event 6 years ago. We intend to grow these connections to our finance and revenue cycle leaders in our healthcare communities, our early careerists and the students who will be our future leaders.
The primary purpose of the South Texas HFMA chapter is to serve our membership. We strive to provide educational events that meet and exceed the needs of our members as well as non-members who may benefit. Serving others goes beyond our chapter and extends to our healthcare communities and the populations that they serve as well. “No one has ever become poor by giving” – Anne Frank.
In this next year, our members can expect to see a blend of our traditional events, along with some new initiatives that we hope will create additional opportunities for each of us to connect as well as serve our industry and communities.
Please reference our events webpage to see upcoming educational & networking events to include:
- In-person conferences such as our Annual Symposium and Women in Leadership Conference
- Monthly Webinars: Free to all members with 1 CEU granted for each webinar.
- Social and networking opportunities such as happy hours and volunteer events
- Student Networking: Our student leaders and volunteers are incredibly active in the South Texas chapter, and we want to continue to support them in their career path. We have new and exciting ideas in the works for creating connections for them within the healthcare organizations in our region. Stay tuned!
Thank you again for the opportunity to serve our chapter. I also want to thank every volunteer, our business partners and our members who make this chapter a success. I look forward to working with all of you in the year to come.
Sincerely,
Rachel Pugliano
