Herman H. Guenther, FHFMA, died Nov. 8, 2019, in Chandler, Arizona. He was 84. Guenther served on HFMA’s National Board of Directors from June 1, 1972, through May 31, 1975, and was a member of the Colorado Chapter.
He also received the following HFMA honors:

- A lifetime membership
- A Bronze Founders Award
- A Silver Founders Award
- A Gold Founders Award
- The 1983 Frederick C. Morgan Individual Achievement Award
He is survived by four children, eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
“Herman was a valued long-time member of the Colorado Chapter and contributed greatly to the success of his profession and our Chapter,” said Chad Krcil, Colorado Chapter president and healthcare advisory director at BDO Center for Healthcare Excellence and Innovation in Denver. “We will miss his humor and style. [He was] truly a unique individual and a blessing to our healthcare industry.”
O’Donnell joins FTI Consulting as managing director
Daniel J. O’Donnell, FACHE, recently accepted the role of managing director at FTI Consulting in Washington, D.C. He was previously assistant vice president finance at Medstar Georgetown University Hospital, also in Washington, D.C.
FTI Consulting promotes Estep to senior managing director
Casey Estep was promoted to senior managing director at FTI Consulting in Brentwood, Tennessee. She transitioned from the managing director role. Estep has almost 20 years of experience in healthcare consulting, focusing on regulatory compliance, investigations and disputes, primarily in the provider sector.
Palomar Health hires Barry as VP, revenue cycle
Douglas Barry was named vice president, revenue cycle at Palomar Health in North San Diego County, California. His previous position was principal at Mazars USA LLP in New York. Barry belongs to HFMA’s San Diego Imperial Chapter.
GDS welcomes Blackwell as director of reimbursement services
Adam Blackwell is now director of reimbursement services at Government Data Services LLC in Franklin, Tennessee. His previous role was senior managing consultant at BKD LLP in Louisville, Kentucky. He is a Kentucky Chapter Board member and a Tennessee Chapter Membership volunteer.
