Leslie Flake, BSN, MBA, has been named as the new CFO of Orlando Health, a not-for-profit healthcare organization serving the southeastern United States. Flake has more than 20 years of experience as a finance leader in not-for-profit and for-profit integrated healthcare systems. Most recently, she served as senior vice president of finance at Spectrum Health based in Grand Rapids, Michigan. She also previously served as CFO and chief compliance officer for Banner Health Medical Group.
“We are extremely pleased to have Leslie join Orlando Health,” said David Strong, the organization’s president and CEO. “Her leadership, experience and expertise in financial direction and oversight of integrated healthcare systems will be instrumental as we continue to evolve and adapt to the changing healthcare environment.”
Flake is a current member and past president of HFMA’s Arizona Chapter.
Firelands’ Dan Moncher retires
After 24 years of service, Dan Moncher, MBA, has retired as executive vice president and CFO of Firelands Health in Sandusky, Ohio. Moncher, a member of HFMA’s Northwest Ohio Chapter, is credited with having made many contributions that enabled Firelands Health to sustain a healthy financial portfolio and maintain independence in a competitive market. He also was instrumental in the hospital maintaining an “A” category bond rating for more than 20 years. Moncher’s work at Firelands earned notable recognition, including being named as one of Becker Healthcare’s “100 hospital health system CFOs to know” in 2019.
James Siegel is the new CFO at VCU Health System
After an extensive national search, James Siegel, CPA, has been named CFO of VCU Health System in Richmond, Virginia. Siegel, a member of HFMA’s Maryland Chapter had been serving in the role on an interim basis since June 2021. He previously served the health system as vice president of financial planning and analysis. Siegal has more than 26 years of experience in healthcare finance, audit accounting and operations, including working with KPMG, LLP, and the Virginia State Auditor’s Office. His leadership experience also includes honorable service as a non-commissioned officer in the United States Army.
Brett Tande has new position with Scripps Health
San Diego-based Scripps Health has hired Brett Tande, MBA, as its new corporate senior vice president and CFO. Tande moves to Scripps from Cottage Health in Santa Barbara, California, where he had served as senior vice president of finance and CFO since 2016. Prior to his work at Cottage Health, he served in lead finance roles at Northwestern Medicine in Chicago and Cadence Health in Winfield, Illinois. Earlier in his career, Tande specialized in not-for-profit healthcare practices as an executive director at Morgan Stanley. Tande is a member of HFMA’s Southern California Chapter.
Denise Tobin joins Cascade365
Denise Tobin is the new director of business development for the Cascade365 Family of Companies. Headquartered in the San Francisco Bay area, Cascade365’s focus is on accounts receivable management, revenue cycle and specialty finance. In her new role, Tobin will be responsible for developing strategic business partnerships within the healthcare industry related to accounts receivable purchase and servicing. She brings to the position more than 20 years of experience in healthcare and revenue cycle operations. A current member of HFMA’s Alabama Chapter, Tobin has also been involved through the years with the Virginia-DC, Georgia and South Texas Chapters.
