CFO transition: Jeff Limbocker succeeds William Woeltjen at Sarasota Memorial
Effective Oct. 1, Jeff Limbocker, FHFMA, MBA, is the CFO of Sarasota Memorial Health Care System. A member of HFMA’s Louisiana Chapter, Limbocker comes to Sarasota, Florida, from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where he held leadership positions with the Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady Health System for the past 25 years. Most recently he served as executive vice president and CFO of the not-for-profit, multi-hospital system.
Limbocker succeeds HFMA Florida Chapter Member William Woeltjen, MBA, who is retiring at the end of the year after serving 12 years as Sarasota Memorial’s CFO. Under his financial management, Sarasota Memorial accomplished the largest expansion in its nearly 100 years — opening a new hospital in Venice, Florida, and an oncology tower in Sarasota and embarking on critically needed behavioral health and outpatient oncology pavilions, all while navigating escalating costs and supply and staffing challenges caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Bill has been an invaluable member of our leadership team whose contributions have strengthened our health system and benefitted our entire community,” said David Verinder, president and CEO of Sarasota Memorial.
James Lee joins MultiCare Health System
James Lee, FHFMA, FACHE, MPH, is the new executive vice president of population-based care and CFO at MultiCare Health System in Tacoma, Washington. In the position, he will support work to expand access to care and services, and drive MultiCare’s ongoing transition away from episodic, fee-for-service care models toward a more value-driven approach. Lee previously served 17 years as executive vice president and CFO for Adventist HealthCare in Gaithersburg, Maryland, before transitioning to the role of chief strategy and growth officer. A member of HFMA’s Washington-Alaska Chapter, Lee also served on the Association’s National Board of Directors.
Liz Sweeney elected to national rulemaking board
Liz Sweeney, MBA, recently joined the board of directors of the Municipal Securities Rulemaking Board (MSRB).
The MSRB is the primary regulator for the municipal securities market, where many nonprofit hospitals and healthcare systems issue bonds. Sweeney, a member of HFMA’s Maryland Chapter, is the president and founder of Nutshell Associates LLC, a Maryland-based financial advisory and public finance consulting firm. She also is a member of the board of University of Maryland Medical System.

Steven C. Glass, CPA, Cleveland, is the new CEO and president of Medical Mutual, the oldest and one of the largest health insurance companies based in Ohio. Glass also will take a seat on Medical Mutual’s board of directors. He previously served as CFO of the Cleveland Clinic, where he was responsible for the overall financial operations of the Clinic and its subsidiaries worldwide. Glass is a member of HFMA’s Northeast Ohio Chapter, the American Institute of Certified Accountants and Health Management Academy. He also is a past board chair for the Ohio Hospital Association.
