CY 2022 Home Health Prospective Payment System Proposed Rule Summary | HFMA

On June 28, 2021, CMS put on public display a proposed rule that would expand nationwide the Home Health Value-Based Purchasing (HHVBP) Model, address routine updates to the Home Health Prospective Payment System (HH PPS) rates, and the home infusion therapy services payment rates for calendar year 2022, among other proposals. The proposed rule would provide for a 1.7 percent update to the HH PPS rates. Among other provisions, CMS proposes to make permanent selected regulatory blanket waivers related to home health aide supervision, and the use of telecommunication that were issued to Medicare participating home health agencies during the COVID-19 public health emergency. In addition, this proposed rule codifies survey and enforcement requirements for hospice programs that were required to implement provisions of the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2021. The deadline for public comment is August 27, 2021.
