General description of position or committee:
The President shall be the chief executive office of the Chapter. It shall be the duty of the president to exercise supervision over the activities and welfare of the Chapter and keep in constant touch with the members of the Board of Directors relative to matters of policy. The President shall be responsible for maintaing regular communication with the Association and Reginal Executives.
Time Commitment:
15-25 Hours Monthly
General description of position or committee:
The President-Elect shall provide support and assistance to the operation of the Chapter. He/she is primarily responsible for the Strategic Plan and is a Co-Chair of the Program Committee.
The Strategic Plan is prepared annually and must be submitted to National HFMA usually by June 1st of each year. Preparation of the
plan requires a survey of the membership (responsibility of the membership committee) to determine their level of satisfaction with various aspects of the chapter’s operation as well as to determine their beliefs on the direction that the chapter should be taking to meet the challenges of the health care industry.
The President-Elect also serves as a Co-Chair of the Program Committee.
Responsibilities of the Program Committee include:
- Selecting meeting dates and sites with direction from the Board
- Select program topics and speakers
- Make speaker arrangements
- Make hotel arrangements
- Make arrangements for HFMA socials
- Develop the program announcements
- Create, distribute, and summarize evaluations forms on all chapter education meetings.
- Prepare a budget for the meetings and approve bills for speakers, hotel, and other meeting expenses
- Prepare agenda for the meetings
In addition, the President-Elect shall be involved in other activitiesd to ensure that member needs are addressed and that a high quality level of activity is maintained.
Time Commitment: 40-60 hours per Chapter

The Secretary is responsible for recording and distributing minutes and record keeping of the Board of Directors.
Specific Goals and Objectives
- Attend Board meetings and take minutes
- Send minutes to the President for inclusion in the Board packet for the following Board meeting
- Update summary of Board motions
- Update policies and procedures based on board action
- Report Bylaws changes to National HFMA
- Review Operations Manual and update as needed
- Chair of Bylaws committee
- Attend Leadership Training Conference
- Serve as By Laws Committee Chair when needed
Time Commitment: 3 Hours per Month
General description of position or committee:
The Treasurer is responsible for overseeing the financial management of the Chapter. Activities include developing a Chapter Financial Budget, maintaining control and accountability over revenues, expenditures and financial reporting to the Board. The Treasurer is also responsible for attending all Board Meetings and for reporting all requested financial information to the National HFMA Office.
Time Commitment: 10-12 Hours per monthly

The Program Committee is responsible for planning and coordinating all Chapter educational sessions, including speakers, program announcements, site arrangements, speaker payments and/or gifts, and thank you notes to speakers. Generally, two people serve as co-chairs due to the demands of the position.
Time Commitment: 12-16 Hours Monthly

Perform audit function related to the chapter’s financial activities.
Specific Goals and Objectives
- Perform audit fieldwork.
- Present audit report to Board.
- Perform reviews of other programs as requested by Board.
Time Commitment: Varies. Outside of audit work, several months have no activity.
General description of position or committee:
To develop and manage the overall Corporate Sponsorship program including recognition of sponsors. Sponsorships help us to provide quality education at an affordable price to our chapter members.
We actively seek and secure Corporate and Event Sponsors, and Exhibitors for our Quarterly Events. We serve as the vendors’ point of contact onsite and help coordinate their exhibit and logistical needs (shipping, electrical requirements, registration).
Specific Goals and Objectives
- Identify the level of financial sponsorship necessary to support Chapter activities.
- Identify methods of obtaining corporate financial sponsorship.
- Work with Program Chair in identifying sponsorship opportunities and strategies.
- Develop a strategy to provide recognition and visibility for our Sponsors.
- Manage the implementation and ongoing operations of the sponsorship program.
Time Commitment: 5-10 Hours Monthly

This committee is designed to combine all communication aspects into one committee so there is continuity in our communication process.
Specific Goals and Objectives
- Manage and update rules for all chapter communications.
- Manage email messages about chapter, national and regional events.
- Manage email message about national or regional webinars.
- Manage additional chapter communication needs including Nomination ballots.
Time Commitment: 5-10 Hours Monthly
General description of position or committee:
The Membership Committee is responsible for building and maintaining the Chapter’s membership. They will coordinate the Chapter’s membership campaign to fulfill the Chapter’s goal of new members for the upcoming year as well as coordinating an orientation to new members and encourage active participation. The Membership Committee will include two co-chairs and at least 10 other members. One co-chair is President-elect and the other is appointed.
Time Commitment: 4-6 hours monthly

Promote and champion awareness of certification and its advantages. Help members register and prepare to take the exam.
Specific Goals and Objectives
- Prepare articles for newsletter.
- Committee acts as mentor to those pursuing certification
- Speak at New Member Orientation and/or board meetings to explain benefits of certification and the process to obtain certification
- Participate in National webinars distributing information and providing updates relevant to the role.
