Greater Heartland Chapter

Welcome to Greater Heartland Chapter

President’s Welcome

My name is Connie Warnat, and I am humbled and very thankful for this opportunity to lead the HFMA Greater Heartland Chapter 2023-2024.

As we close another chapter year, I’d like to recognize and congratulate the 2022-2023 Greater Heartland Chapter Leaders for a very successful year! Jana – it was a privilege to serve as your President Elect.

As an HFMA member since 2001, I have served as a board of director, on many committees, and then most recently, began the officer rotation. It is my greatest honor to serve as the Greater Heartland Chapter President for 2023-2024.

Let’s begin our year together by reflecting on our chapters mission, vision, and values, which are the following:

  • Provide professional development through educational programming, information dissemination, certification, leadership training and networking.
  • Promote high standards of professional and ethical conduct.
  • To be an indispensable professional resource for healthcare financial professionals.
  • Provide value added service to our members.
  • Working together is essential to our mission and success.
  • The Chapter believes individuals are important and should be treated with respect, dignity, and fairness.
  • The leaders and members of the Chapter will act in an ethically and financially responsible manner.
  • Creativity is encouraged and excellence is the standard.

HFMA’s incoming National Chair theme is “It’s Time”, the 2022-2023 president for the GHL chose “Count on US” and for the 2023-2024 Greater Heartland Chapter, I have chosen “HUDDLE UP and GAME ON” as the themes for our year together.

Our goals, strategy and success run parallel to some of the best teams in professional sports. I would like to specifically point to a particular sport where the highest achievement award is named after a coach. Vince Lombardi set the standard of success for his players on and off the field. One of his famous quotes are “There is only one way to succeed in anything…and that is to give it everything”.

There are and will be many reasons and occasions that our HFMA Greater Heartland members will “Huddle Up”.  Just a few weeks ago, each of the HFMA Chapters across the county gathered to begin planning their next year together. GHL sent twelve (12) of the leadership team to San Antonio to participate in the initial preparation to collaborate and strategize our up-and-coming year. Going forward, this collection of strategic maneuvers will be called the Greater Heartland Leadership playbook and will be our team’s key plays that will drive us to achieve our goals on “Game Day” (educational events, networking, certification etc.)

Coaches select plays for the playbook to align with a winning strategy. Players follow the playbook, mentally drilling their roles over and over until they are comfortable and confident in their roles under varied circumstances.

Being successful in a football game is a bit like driving a successful continuous improvement (CI) model. Executing running and passing plays and driving the ball down the field can lead to scoring and winning the game. Outside of sports, following the playbook to deliver milestones on a strategic path can help a team win by achieving organizational goals.

To kick off our calendar year together, we hope to see you at the Summer Educational Event titled “Tackling Revenue Cycle Obstacles”. This great event will be held in Springfield at the Bass Pro Shops – Uncle Buck’s Venue, on August 4th. To register, click on this link https://cvent.me/EoMx4P

In closing, if you aren’t currently one of our HFMA Greater Heartland Chapter volunteers but are hoping to engage with more of our HFMA members, there is no greater path than for you to join our team of volunteers. With that said, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me anytime.

Thank you,

Connie Warnat – Greater Heartland Chapter President 2023-2024
