Indiana Pressler Memorial Chapter

President’s Welcome

It’s hard to believe we are through the summer months of our new chapter year. I’m very excited to work with all of our chapter leaders to guide our membership into the next phase of the ever changing healthcare environment.

The post-COVID world continues to present labor challenges, inflationary cost increases, and pressures on top line revenues, all of which are stressing providers big and small. When asked what my outlook is for our chapter given these challenges, my response is “We are with you and in this together.” While our industry continues to face significant headwinds, our chapter continues to evolve. We are stronger in numbers than we were in 2019 with the emergence of many enterprise members. This creates both opportunities and challenges as we strive to serve more professionals but are faced with the challenges of budgetary constraints and travel restrictions. I’m pleased to tell you all that your leadership team is primed for these challenges. As we plan for the upcoming year, we are excited about our opportunities with goals to increase your overall chapter value and engagement.

We recently held our second annual (post-COVID) Summer Baseball Outing Networking Event with nearly 100 registered attendees coming together at Victory Field to cheer on the Indianapolis Indians. We’ve re-aligned our in-person programming to provide the best value and mix of regional and local events. And be on the lookout for future monthly e-mail blasts with our upcoming networking and educational opportunities. If you haven’t already heard, registration for the Bi-Annual Tri-State Event is live. This is one of my favorite events and I’m happy to part of the committee focused on rebooting this event to be the best ever. I can’t wait to see you at the Belterra Casino and Resort in September! Also, be on the lookout for fall networking events, our local Annual Conference in February, and the collaborative Women Leader Conference to be held in the spring and co-sponsored with Executive Women in Healthcare.

Beyond these events which bring us together, I personally want to focus on chapter engagement. I’m a believer that the more you give, the more you get, which has held true with my HFMA career. As I enter my final year on the executive team, my challenge to you all is to get involved. Go to the website’s Volunteer Opportunities page and sign up for a committee. And if you can’t find the committee sign-up, just e-mail me! Take that first leap and realize that the commitment isn’t burdensome and the rewards from involving yourself in this great chapter far exceed anything you could imagine.

And with that, I hope to see more of you this year as we gather to learn, network, and volunteer. I thank you and look forward to serving with you this upcoming year.

Annual Sponsor Spotlight

We talk frequently about the positive impact our Annual Sponsors have on our ability to put on quality education, but we would like to take a brief moment and put the spotlight on a couple of sponsors each month for the next chapter year, so you can get to know them better.

This month we are putting the spotlight on Forvis Mazars, our President’s Club Sponsor:

FORVIS has been a Chapter Sponsor for ~20 years

They perform the following services:

FORVIS helps leaders unlock their organization’s full potential through holistic and tailored assurance, tax, and consulting services designed to help you manage risks, navigate the changing healthcare landscape, and realize a more transformative, innovative future.

Recent accomplishments for our member hospitals:

FORVIS helped a client hospital address negative financial trends caused by the reimbursement impact of a shift in payors to Medicaid, cost increases with traveler wages and third-party contract labor costs, and a decline in volume due to COVID-19. The hospital looked to FORVIS who was already providing their audit services for a top-down assessment of staffing models and other improvement areas. In the short time FORVIS has been working with the hospital, they have realized revenue enhancements, staffing model adjustments (including an added position), and a large financial victory by switching GPOs.

Their Mission and Vision are:

Mission: To build remarkable careers and provide an Unmatched Client Experience™ through an uncommon commitment to excellence.

VISion: Our FORward VISion is to be known for creating engaging opportunities, delivering innovative solutions, and building unrivaled relationships
