Nancy Koors, MBA, MS, recently became CEO of UASI. The company, based in Cincinnati, Ohio, provides revenue cycle management solutions including coding, clinical documentation integrity and healthcare information management, and consulting services.
Koors is an experienced C-suite executive who has held leadership positions at startups and mid-market organizations in various industries. She joined UASI in 2020 as the vice president of corporate development, responsible for the company’s strategic plan and growth initiatives.
“We are excited to have Nancy transition into the CEO role to lead the company into its next phase,” said Pat Burke, chairman of UASI. “We feel she is an ideal fit given her role in developing the company’s strategic plan, developing new services, as well as her proven track record of leading services organizations through significant growth transitions.”
A member of HFMA’s Southwest Ohio Chapter, Koors serves on advisory boards at various for-profit companies. She has spent 20 years giving back to the business community by coaching and mentoring entrepreneurs launching and growing startup companies. Koors also is an entrepreneur in residence at the University of Cincinnati Venture Lab.
Pipeline promotes Steve Blake to CFO
Pipeline Health in El Segundo, California, recently announced the promotion of Steve Blake, FHFMA, CPA, to CFO. Blake previously served as Pipeline’s CAO and as CFO for its Los Angeles market. He also has 35-plus years of experience in multihospital financial management roles with public, private and nonprofit companies, including Integrated Healthcare Holdings and Tenet Healthcare. Blake is a member of HFMA’s Southern California Chapter.
Tamara Ceseña moves up at Skagit Regional Health
Skagit Regional Health in Mount Vernon, Washington, has promoted Tamara Ceseña, CHFP, MBA, to regional vice president and CFO. Ceseña has served in a variety of financial roles with the organization since 1994, including reimbursement manager, revenue cycle director and vice president of finance. She also led the consolidation of Skagit’s revenue cycle structure in 2016. Ceseña is a member of HFMA’s Washington-Alaska Chapter.
Alexander Fernandez named CFO of VITAS Healthcare
End-of-life provider VITAS Healthcare, Miami, Florida, has appointed Alexander Fernandez, MBA, CPA, as executive vice president and CFO. Fernandez brings more than two decades of financial, administrative and leadership experience in the healthcare industry to the new role. He is a member of HFMA’s Florida Chapter and previously served nine years in executive finance roles at Broward Health, most recently as senior vice president and CFO.
John Mordach joins Jefferson
Philadelphia’s Jefferson, which consists of Thomas Jefferson University, Jefferson Health and Health Partners Plans, recently named John P. Mordach, MBA, CPA, as its new executive vice president and CFO. A member of HFMA’s North Carolina Chapter, Mordach most recently was senior vice president, CFO and treasurer for Duke University Health System. Prior to that he spent nearly a decade with Rush University’s health system and medical center in Chicago.
