Lone Star Chapters’ Jorge Fernandez joins Triage Consulting
President-Elect of the HFMA Lone Star Chapter Jorge Fernandez recently became the senior vice president of business development at Triage Consulting Group in San Francisco. His previous role was business development principal at Availity in Jacksonville, Florida.
Fernandez has more than 35 years of revenue cycle experience, holding positions as an auditor, accounts receivable analyst, assistant director business office, business office director and interim vice president revenue cycle in organizations ranging from a 74-bed hospital to a 27-hospital, 10-state healthcare system. He has also represented McKesson, MASH-a Patient Matters Company, Vizient, MedAssets, Deloitte, Protiviti and Availity in various business development and consulting roles.
Fernandez’s passion for the healthcare industry is evident from his participation in the National HFMA 2.0 Education Task Force and in his help running a Revenue Cycle assessment project in Columbia, South America. He recommends getting as involved as possible in an HFMA Chapter because his last three jobs came from being active in HFMA and through the extensive networking it provides.
Fernandez’s 5 fun facts:
- Enjoys, designs and creates flower gardens and landscapes.
- Has traveled to 49 of the 50 U.S. states; he’s just missing Alaska.
- Helps his parents on their 1,800-acre ranch near San Antonio, working 350 to 400 head of Red Brangus cattle.
- Considers himself a mountain man and recently purchased acreage in Montana near Flathead Lake with his wife Cristina.
- Collects 1/18 and 1/16 scale cars, trucks, and tractors, which he is now trying to sell.
