Former HFMA Chair Kari Cornicelli joins Phoenix Children’s

Kari Cornicelli, FHFMA, CPA, has been named executive vice president and CFO at Phoenix Children’s in Phoenix, Arizona. Her previous role was vice president and CFO for the Sharp Metropolitan Medical Campus in San Diego.

Cornicelli has more than 30 years of healthcare finance experience. She served as National Chair of HFMA’s Board of Directors and is a past president of the San Diego Chapter of HFMA. She previously served on the California Hospital Association Board of Directors and the Neighborhood Healthcare Board of Directors.

In 2015, Cornicelli was named to Becker’s Hospital Review’s list of 150 Hospital and Health System CFOs to Know, as well as Becker’s 130 Women Hospital and Health System Leaders to Know in 2015, 2016 and 2017. She has a degree in accounting from Weber State University and is a graduate of the California Healthcare Leadership Program.

Melinda Mastel, MBA, CHFP, CSBI, and Michael Perz, MBA, have been promoted to senior financial analysts at the Medical College of Wisconsin in Wauwatosa. They previously served as financial analysts. Suzie Guma, MBA, has been promoted to financial analyst. She previously served as grants operations coordinator.

Timothy A. Furrow, CHFP, has been named director of patient financial services at Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City. He previously served as director of patient business services at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Eric Reyes, MHA CRCS-I, has been named AVP, client delivery at Ensemble Health Partners in Mason, Ohio. He previously served as vice president of insurance operations at HBCS in New Castle, Delaware.

Jennifer J. Soule, MBA, has been named fixed income credit analyst on Wellington Management’s research team in Boston. She previously served as director of healthcare at S&P Global’s Public Finance Group in Boston.
