St. Mary’s Medical Center in Huntington, West Virginia — a member of Mountain Health Network — recently announced that Angie Swearingen, MS, has been named as its new COO. She previously served the organization as vice president of finance and CFO. Swearingen has a master’s degree in healthcare administration and brings more than 25 years of health system and hospital experience to the new position.
“Angie’s experience, organization and financial acumen have been and will continue to be tremendous assets to St. Mary’s,” said Kevin W. Yingling, RPh, MD, CEO of Mountain Health Network and president of St. Mary’s Medical Center and Cabell Huntington Hospital.
Swearingen is a member of HFMA’s West Virginia Chapter and serves on the board of the West Virginia Hospital Association.
Richard Chesnos retires as CFO; Eric Luttringer assumes role
St. Clair Health, Pittsburgh, has announced that Richard C. Chesnos, FHFMA, CPA, will retire this month as senior vice president and CFO. Chesnos, who has held the position since 2006, is credited with guiding St. Clair’s finances to achieve the region’s highest bond rating. He also oversaw expansions that nearly doubled the institution’s square footage and modernized its facilities and equipment. In addition, Chesnos has been an industry leader in hospital price transparency, guiding St. Clair to be at the forefront of hospitals offering online patient-friendly tools designed to take the mystery out of healthcare costs.
Eric J. Luttringer, FHFMA, CPA, MBA, will succeed Chesnos as senior vice president and CFO. He previously was St. Clair’s vice president of finance.
“I have the utmost confidence in Eric as he steps into this senior leadership role,” said Chesnos. “In our more than 19 years of working together, he has exhibited the leadership and other skills necessary to effectively direct the financial operations at
St. Clair.”
Both Chesnos and Luttringer are members of HFMA’s Western Pennsylvania Chapter.
Donald Barrett, Jr., takes new vice president of national sales role
Jzanus, based in Franklin Square, New York, has hired Donald Barrett, Jr., as vice president of national sales. In this new position for the company, Barrett will support the continued expansion of Jzanus’ robotic process automation revenue cycle management (RCM) platform, SMARTWorks Solution, as well as its full portfolio of RCM services, technology and solutions. Barrett brings to the position 17 years of healthcare RCM experience. A resident of Cleveland, he is a member of HFMA’s Northeast Ohio Chapter.
Craig Gambardella joins TSCG
Craig Gambardella has joined TSCG as a tenant and landlord broker operating out of the company’s offices in Manhattan and White Plains, New York. Gambardella, a member of HFMA’s Connecticut Chapter, is an expert in the healthcare real estate sector and spearheads a strategic initiative within TSCG to develop a proprietary suite of services aimed at healthcare sector real estate management. The TSCG MD initiative takes a data and analytical approach to helping health systems optimize their real estate portfolio and deliver care closer to their patients.
