President’s Welcome
As your incoming president, I am thrilled to welcome you to a new chapter year! I look forward to collaborating with our chapter leaders to provide you with the valuable resources and support that have brought you to HFMA.
Over the last two decades, I have worked diligently to support revenue cycle and finance operations for healthcare providers. I have seen firsthand the dynamic nature of the work we do, and I am confident that our chapter is well-prepared to support you in navigating this ever-evolving landscape. The challenges we face are significant, but so are the opportunities for growth and innovation.
Our goal this year is to enhance the value of your membership through a variety of initiatives aimed at professional development, networking, and education. We are committed to offering programs and events that meet your needs and help you succeed in your roles. Our Bi-Annual Region 7 Event is taking place in October this year in Chicago, and you can learn more about that event here. We also plan to have fall networking events, our local Annual Conference and Legislative Update in February, as well as the collaborative Women Leader Conference to be held in the spring and co-sponsored with Executive Women in Healthcare.
Engagement is key to our success. I encourage each of you to get involved and take advantage of the opportunities available within our chapter. Whether it’s joining a committee, attending events, or participating in our educational programs, your involvement is crucial. The more you engage, the more you will benefit from the wealth of knowledge and support our community has to offer. FORVIS helped a client hospital address negative financial trends caused by the reimbursement impact of a shift in payors to Medicaid, cost increases with traveler wages and third-party contract labor costs, and a decline in volume due to COVID-19. The hospital looked to FORVIS who was already providing their audit services for a top-down assessment of staffing models and other improvement areas. In the short time FORVIS has been working with the hospital, they have realized revenue enhancements, staffing model adjustments (including an added position), and a large financial victory by switching GPOs.
