General Description
Responsible for ensuring that the Chapter makes certification information conveniently available. Ideally, the certification chair would be a certified member. The Committee will include at least a Chairperson and Co-Chairperson. The Co-Chairperson will become Chairperson the following year.
Goals, Objectives, and Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain processes to encourage members to become certified and maintain their certifications once earned.
- Work within the Chapter to offer appropriate resources in support of certification efforts. Such resources can include study groups and group overviews of certification requirements and ways to prepare for certification.
- Facilitate CHFP coaching sessions and CRCR boot camps (twice per year)
- Work with chapter members and national to ensure that members submit complete testing information to register to test correctly.
- Assist members throughout the certification process.
- Partners with conference/event contracted support vendor.
General Description
Supports the communication and technology needs of the Chapter. The Committee will include at least a Chairperson and Co-Chairperson. The Co-Chairperson will become Chairperson the following year.

- Coordinate with National HFMA to update the Chapter website for events, news, employment opportunities, sponsorships, and leadership changes.
- Create and edit Chapter podcast.
- Broadcast and create recordings of Chapter events
- Assist with technology needs during events
- Work closely with Chapter leadership and other committees
- Partners with conference/event contracted support vendor.
General Description
At Oregon HFMA, we believe that everyone belongs. Data shows that marginalized communities (race, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability) are underrepresented in healthcare leadership. This initiative aims to develop strategies to grow the knowledge, skills, and abilities of these underrepresented populations and position them for opportunities to advance their career.

General Description
Responsible for planning and coordinating all chapter educational sessions, including speakers and program summaries. The Education/Program Committee will include a Chairperson and a Co-Chairperson. The Chairperson will chair the Committee. The Co-Chairperson becomes the Chairperson the following year.
Goals, Objectives, and Responsibilities:
- Plan and organize at least three (3) education programs per year of 8-12 C.P.E. credits each
- Facilitate coordination of topics on a monthly conference call
- Obtain approval for any education program expenditures from President and President-Elect before financially committing to the Chapter.
- Request each speaker to provide an outline of the covered topic. Review the outline and proposed presentation before the conference to ensure appropriate content and length.
- Provide strawman Agenda to Support Vendors 12 weeks before the conference.
- Provide promotional material for education announcements at least eighteen (18) weeks before each meeting. Included should be:
- Meeting theme or topic and one promotional paragraph
- Scheduled time frames
- Before the meeting, Chairperson/Co-Chairperson should partner with Support Vendor:
- Ensure that each speaker has made appropriate travel arrangements, and if travel is being reimbursed, ensure that reasonable travel is being assumed (Coach fare, etc.)
- Provide Treasurer with copies of speaker contracts and payment arrangements.
- Identify Speaker’s A.V. needs and inform Facilities Chairperson
- Send a letter to the speaker confirming dates, locations, and fiscal arrangements if applicable
- Ensure that speakers are registered for the conference
- Request introductions/bios from speakers
- During the meeting, Chairperson/Co-Chairperson should:
- Ensure that the speaker’s A.V. needs are ready, including a laptop with presentations loaded
- Prepare meeting room with handouts if applicable
- Coordinate introductions of speakers at the meeting
- Count session attendees and provide them to the registration desk
- Wrap up sessions with comments and remind attendees to complete online evaluations. If sessions run short, try to ask questions of the audience/generate a discussion.
- Lead group discussion on topics they’d like included at future meetings—document group ideas for conference planning.
- After the meeting, Chairperson/Co-Chairperson should:
- Coordinate sending thank you messages/notes to speakers
- Partners with conference/event contracted support vendor
General Description
Oregon HFMA is committed to providing ongoing value to Enterprise Membership Organizations. The Enterprise Committee establishes a primary point of contact at each Enterprise Membership Organization. The intent is to share information and regular communications about Enterprise Membership opportunities and establish value that promotes continued renewal. The Committee is responsible for planning one annual event dedicated to Enterprise Members in partnership with Education Programs Committee. This event takes place during the winter conference period. Oregon HFMA will partner with the Association to meet the needs of Enterprise Organizations. The Committee will include at least a Chairperson and Co-Chairperson, preferably one or both employees at Enterprise Membership organizations. The Co-Chairperson will become Chairperson the following year.
Goals, Objectives, and Responsibilities:
- Coordinate an introductory/welcome call with new Enterprise Membership organizations and the Association to establish the primary point of contact, review the benefits of becoming an Enterprise Organization, explain how to become involved in the Chapter, and provide a National HFMA overview.
- Maintain Enterprise Membership roster with contacts and contract renewal dates.
- Establish regular communications with the Enterprise Membership organization’s primary contacts and provide information about upcoming events and educational opportunities.
- Coordinate one annual Enterprise Membership-focused event that promotes Enterprise Membership participation.
- Partner with Membership Committee to engage with each Enterprise Membership organization annually
- Partner with Certification Committee to offer a CRCR Bootcamp for Enterprise Members
- Liaison with the Association regarding Enterprise Membership benefits and support.
- Partners with conference/event contracted support vendor.
General Description
Coordinate the four educational meetings’ locations, lodging, food, and entertainment. The Committee will include at least a Chairperson and Co-Chairperson. The Co-Chairperson will become Chairperson the following year.
Goals, Objectives, and Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and arrange for the locations of future meetings. Coordinate the contract with location sites for lodging, food, and entertainment (i.e., band or photo booth vendor.)
- Facilitate the room A.V. capabilities for speakers/presenters
- Works closely with the Networking committee
- Review and authorize payment of facility invoices
- Plan annual awards banquet in coordination with President-Elect
- Act as liaison or point-person between chapter members and facilities during conferences
- Partners with conference/event contracted support vendor
General Description
The Membership Committee is the front door to the HFMA chapter and the first point of communication with new members. The Committee promotes HFMA to the finance healthcare community. The Committee will include at least a Chairperson and Co-Chairperson. The Co-Chairperson will become Chairperson the following year.
Goals, Objectives, and Responsibilities:
- Welcome new members and provide a New Member Information Packet, which includes: Welcome letter, a benefits summary, an explanation of how to become involved in the Chapter, including upcoming meetings, and a National HFMA overview.
- Send New Member Information Packet and an existing membership directory to new members.
- Renew and revise new member packet as required/needed.
- Recruit mentors and match with non-Enterprise new members for each conference.
- Staff the membership desk at all Chapter education meetings and workshops. Maintain registration lists and distribute programs to attendees.
- Develop the Chapter’s annual membership recruitment and retention plan, including activities that support chapter growth and goals.
- Send reminder communications to members whose membership is expiring.
- Chairperson is the primary contact with National for membership reports and marketing information.
- Continue programs such as “Bring a Guest” once/year or other innovative ideas to recruit emerging leaders and other targeted members.
General Description
Organizes ice-breaker activities for each social hour at the quarterly meetings with a focus on a specific HFMA member population as identified by the National and the Oregon HFMA chapter. Organizes no-host or sponsored social events for each quarterly meeting to encourage member involvement and create an environment for members to optimize networking. Organizes at least one additional event per year outside quarterly meetings, which provides a networking opportunity focusing on those unable to attend regular meetings. The Committee will include at least a Chairperson and Co-Chairperson. The Co-Chairperson will become Chairperson the following year.

- Ensure positive networking opportunities for members
- Provides/coordinates ice-breakers at each social hour during quarterly meetings
- Provides one networking event per year apart from the quarterly meetings, accessible to people not able to attend quarterly meetings
- Considers at least one event where members can include family members
- Works closely with the Facilities Management Committee
- Supplies information and promotional materials
- Partners with conference/event contracted support vendor
General Description
The Problem Solving Committee is responsible for soliciting questions from providers and their peers to be discussed in an open forum to explore different solutions for common dilemmas within their specialties. The Committee moderates the open forum. The Committee will include at least a Chairperson and Co-Chairperson. The Co-Chairperson will become Chairperson the following year.
Goals, Objectives, and Responsibilities:
- Coordinate with the Cvent coordinator timing of email deliveries for solicitation of questions from providers and peers.
- Create and format email templates for first, second, and final reach outs for questions before the next problem-solving session.
- Communicate directly with those who provide discussion points for questions and ask them to provide their input during the meeting before the group discussion.
- Create agenda, which includes solicited questions from email reach outs.
- Coordinate within the Committee the moderation of the open forum. Assigning minutes, speaker/host role, and chat box responsibility/backup when the meeting is online.
- Post minutes to Dropbox
- Partners with conference/event contracted support vendor.
General Description
The Reimbursement Programs Committee is responsible for the planning and hosting virtual webinar programming for the Chapter. Providing webinar programming is essential to HFMA’s commitment to bringing education and value to our membership. The Committee works closely with the Patient Accounts and Finance Programs committees to identify critical industry topics for education. The Committee will include at least a Chairperson and Co-Chairperson. The Co-Chairperson will become Chairperson the following year.
Goals, Objectives, and Responsibilities:
- Plan and host 2-3 Oregon chapter-specific webinars for the chapter year; this includes:
- Identifying hot topics, particularly those that may be of high interest and relevance to the local chapter membership;
- Collaborating with Patient Accounts and Finance Programs Committees to identify pertinent topics;
- Securing speakers to address such hot topics for webinar programming;
- Once speakers are secured, and speaker-related forms are signed, work with the chapter administrator to build and launch webinar invitation;
- Work with Communications Committee to advertise the webinar via the website and social media; and
- They are coordinating with Sponsorship Committee to identify sponsorship recognition opportunities for webinar delivery.
- For the webinar presentation itself, the Chair or Co-Chair will facilitate the presentation, which involves:
- Making introductory remarks and introducing speaker(s)
- Thanking chapter sponsors (via sponsorship slides)
- Facilitating Q&A
- Making closing remarks
- Ensure National sends a post-event email with the survey link and C.P.E. credits.
- Plan and host 1 Region 11 webinar. This involves collaborating with the Region 11 Webinar Programming leads to secure speakers, develop invitations, and market webinars.
- Promote other Region 11 webinars throughout the chapter year.
- Follow the same steps above for chapter webinars.
General Description
Develops and executes the Chapter’s social media strategy. The Committee will include at least a Chairperson and Co-Chairperson. The Co-Chairperson will become Chairperson the following year.

- Develop a long-term social media strategy for the Chapter
- Partners with conference/event contracted support vendor to develop social media advertising prior to Chapter events
- Attend Chapter events to take pictures to post to social media
- Work closely with Chapter leadership and other committees
General Description
Solicits sponsorship funds for the Chapter, which cover the educational and social activities not covered thru member dues and educational program fees. The Committee will include at least a Chairperson and Co-Chairperson. The Co-Chairperson will become Chairperson the following year.
Goals, Objectives, and Responsibilities:
- Prepare sponsorship budget in coordination with President and Treasurer
- Track and coordinate available promotions provided to sponsors based on their giving level
- Solicit sponsorship funds at the beginning of the year and throughout the year
- Inform prospective sponsors of the various levels of sponsorship available and recognition available at each level
- Recognize and thank sponsors by letter and at the annual banquet
- Sponsors of networking events will be allowed to pass out drink tickets (2 each) to attendees.
- Ensure payment from each sponsor
- Partners with conference/event contracted support vendor.
